GONE - 4/26/14 Manhattan Center - P My name is DA VINCI. My Animal ID # is A0997210. I am a male tan and white pit bull mix. The shelter thinks I am about 1 YEAR I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 04/19/2014 from NY 10459, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY. MOST RECENT MEDICAL INFORMATION AND WEIGHT 04/23/2014 Exam Type OBSERVATION - Medical Rating is 2 NC - MINOR CONDITIONS NOT CONTAGIOUS, Behavior Rating is EXPNOCHILD, Weight 39.4 LBS. coughing reported, no coughing heard at this time 04/19/2014 PET PROFILE MEMO 04/19/14 23:31 Dog was jumping, barking, and wagging its tail during intake. It also allowed touch. 04/23/2014 WEB MEMO A volunteer writes: It's all about the ears!! This gorgeous, compact, sleek little boy has fabulous rabbit ears that frame his adorable face. While he's too thin so being fed an extra meal daily, his coat gleams, his tail wags and he's friendly and social. Likely housetrained he went potty as soon as we were out the door, and then showed off great leash manners as we walked to the park. We met a staff member in the park walking another dog and while we stood there talking da Vinci went into a partial play bow, so badly wanting to have a play date. Sorry da Vinci....when you're home you can have all the play dates you want. We stopped to take some pictures in the park and da Vinci didn't mind being tethered, made soft eye contact and did a head tilt when I made kissy noises at him. Love the head tilt thing! In the backyard, da Vinci discovered I had treats and followed me around the pen as my new best friend! As hungry as he is, he takes them gently and sweetly. Up on the bench he joined me for some hugs and kisses, easy, gentle and small enough to fit in my lap. da Vinci is looking for a new home with nutritious food to help him gain some weight, and where love abounds. Ask to meet our little rabbit eared boy today. 04/23/2014 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION - EXPNOCHILD Exam Type BEHAVIOR Da Vinci excitedly greeted the assessor with a soft body and then proceeded to jump all over the assessor and attempt to lick the assessor's hands/face. He was active and difficult to position for the handling items of the assessment. He got aroused during the tag item and he began to bite the leash. Da Vinci growled and snapped at the assess-a-hand during the food bowl test. He stood over his toy with soft body language; however he growled during the rawhide test. Da Vinci rushed in quickly with confident body language during the dog-to-dog interaction. Da Vinci displayed concerning behaviors during his evaluation: arousal, food/resource guarding. He stopped grabbing the leash once the assessor stopped moving. Da Vinci growled on the third pass during the food bowl test. Da Vinci only showed interest in the rawhide after the assessor first attempted to take it away. While he was not stiff during the dog-to-dog interaction, he was very focused and difficult to distract. The behavior department recommends that he go to an active, experienced home without children. Look: 3 Dog jumps on the Assessor, consistently rubs his shoulder on the Assessor, and will not allow Assessor to conduct the assessment. Sensitivity: 1 Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft or squinty, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 3 Dog responds with his tail high, ears forward, mouth likely closed for at least half of the assessment item, body stiff and body checks the Assessor. Dog is often focused on other stimuli in the room. Squeeze 1: 1 Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2: 2 Dog gently places his open mouth over the Assessor's hand without applying pressure. Food: 4 Dog growls. Toy: 2 Dog takes toy away, keeps a firm hold. His body is between you and the toy, and he is loose and wiggly. No growling or stiffness. Rawhide: 4 Dog growls. Dog-to-dog: 2 Dog approaches the helper dog, body soft, tail well above spine level, ears forward.
