Sharing my tips today on How To Make A Protein Shake Without Protein Powder When I’m busy working out I love to replenish by drinking a protein shake but I don’t always love to use protein powder. Here’s what I can use instead. Making protein shakes doesn’t necessarily have to involve protein powder. While powders are a great way to easily add protein into your smoothies, there are various other foods you can use instead or when you run out of your favorite protein powder. Eggs. Whether it’s full eggs or just egg whites, this is a great way to add protein to your next smoothie. One egg contains about 6 grams of protein. Once you mix in fruits and vegetables, you won’t be able to taste it at all. Greek yogurt. One container of Chobani Greek yogurt contains 14 grams of protein! Adding yogurt to your smoothies also helps make it thicker, if that’s what you like. Stick to the unflavored kind to avoid added sugars and processed ingredients. Cottage cheese. Softer cheese are much healthier than solid cheeses since they contain less fat. You’ll get 15 grams of protein for each half cup of cottage cheese that you use. If you decide not to use it in a smoothie, it also makes a great snack! Pair it with fruit like strawberries or pineapple for a filling snack. Peanut butter. Who doesn’t love peanut butter? Any nut butter will contain a decent amount of protein per serving – around 8-10 grams. Not only that, nut butters contain healthy fats which improve heart and brain health. A great smoothie combination is peanut butter, banana and almond milk. Oats. Adding in oatmeal will create a thick, filling smoothie. Did you know a serving of oatmeal equates to about 10 grams of protein? A smoothie with oatmeal would be the perfect post-workout shake; it will replenish your body with both carbohydrates and protein. Spinach. If you have never tried a green smoothie, you should start. Adding in vegetables will increase your daily vegetable intake and provide many nutritional benefits. A good starter vegetable is spinach, which contains 6 grams of protein per one cup. Mix it with fruits like apples, bananas or berries and you won’t even taste the spinach. Don’t be afraid of the green color, it’s delicious! Smoothies are a great way to increase your servings of fruits and vegetables, but also the perfect snack or post-workout meal. They’re quick and easy to make – and now you don’t even need to worry about buying protein powder. Simply use these ingredients and you’ll have a delicious smoothie ready to go. Enjoy!
